Quantum Controls Champions Engineering Careers as Two Apprentices Complete Their Journey

Quantum Controls, a leading provider of Variable Speed Drive (VSD) solutions and services across the UK, is proud to announce the most recent successful completion of apprenticeships by two talented young engineers, Robbie and Ryley. Their achievements reflect Quantum Controls’ ongoing commitment to developing engineering talent and supporting the next generation of skilled professionals in the industry.

As a proactive business, Quantum Controls actively promotes engineering career opportunities and apprenticeships as vital pathways into the profession. Through hands-on training, mentorship, and real-world experience, the company ensures apprentices not only develop technical expertise but also grow into confident, capable engineers who can make a tangible difference to customers and the wider industry.

Robbie, now a fully qualified Maintenance Operations Engineering Technician (MOET), described his motivation for choosing the apprenticeship route:

“Coming straight from sixth form, I wanted a more hands-on experience. Apprenticeships are perfect for people who prefer practical learning over purely academic routes.”

Robbie highlighted his proudest achievement during his apprenticeship as gaining a deep understanding of maintaining and installing VSDs, critical systems that, if not maintained properly, can lead to costly downtime for customers. His growing confidence saw him contributing directly to Quantum Controls’ service and projects teams, attending service days, installations, breakdowns, and even coordinating multiple jobs across the UK.

Robbie’s advice to aspiring apprentices:

“Be patient, don’t be afraid to make mistakes, they’re opportunities to learn, and always ask questions. That’s how you really gain knowledge on the job.”

Ryley, who completed the Maintenance Operations & Electrical Technician Standard Level 3 apprenticeship and went on to achieve a Pearson Level 4 HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, reflected on his most rewarding moments:

“The best part has been learning new skills and working alongside skilled engineers. A highlight was working on our container builds, which required careful planning and teamwork.”

Ryley’s journey has transformed his confidence and independence. Now a qualified engineer, his sights are set on deepening his knowledge and giving back:

“My next goal is to become a mentor myself, sharing what I’ve learned and helping others succeed.”

Tom Lippett, Workshop Manager at Quantum Controls, commented:

“At Quantum Controls, we believe investing in apprenticeships isn’t just about training individuals; it’s about strengthening the future of our entire industry. Robbie and Ryley’s success is a testament to the value of apprenticeships as a route into engineering, and we’re proud to have supported them every step of the way.”

Quantum Controls works closely with TDR Training to deliver structured apprenticeship programmes, blending practical experience with formal qualifications, ensuring apprentices graduate as competent, confident, and career-ready engineers.

As demand for skilled engineers continues to grow across the UK, Quantum Controls remains committed to creating opportunities for young people to enter and thrive in the engineering profession.
