Testing at Quantum Controls
Our test facility at Quantum’s Head Office in Prudhoe, Northumberland allows us to test VSDs under loads of up to 400 A.
This is achieved by driving two 110 kW motors coupled together. The first is a driven motor and the second acts as a generator.
High currents can therefore be passed through the drive, rather than running drives without a motor or with an unloaded motor.
Fitting a regenerative drive means that we can power the full load test facility by drawing only the losses from the grid, resulting in an energy-efficient testing process.
A retractable partition splits the test facility into two sections, allowing us to test double the number of VSDs and control panels at the same time, helping us adhere to our drive repair SLAs.
A 415 V to 690 V transformer allows us to test larger 690 V control panels. A screen at the back of the test bay enables engineers to connect laptops to display and analyse results and graphs from the equipment tested.
