Onshore Power Supply

Shore to Ship Power Solutions

Quantum Controls is a leading provider of shore to ship power systems, helping ports and vessels reduce emissions, cut fuel costs, and comply with global environmental regulations.

Also known as Onshore Power Supply (OPS) or Shoreside Electricity (SSE), our solutions deliver reliable, efficient electrical power from the shore to docked ships, enabling vessels to shut down their diesel engines while berthed.

Onshore Power

Onshore Power, also referred to as Cold Ironing, Alternative Maritime Power (AMP), or High-Voltage Shore Connection, is the process of supplying shore-generated electricity to a ship at berth. This technology allows ships to plug into the local electrical grid, reducing emissions and noise pollution by eliminating the need to run onboard auxiliary engines.

Case study

Superyacht Refit

140 metres Superyacht length
1,200 Amps Continuous demand at full load
4 weeks Build, test and shipping lead time

We received a request from a European company specialising in Superyacht Refits. They had a 140 metre Superyacht, worth $300 million, coming into dock to undertake important required works and needed to convert shore supply to be able to carry out the project.

They needed to convert shore supply at 400V, 50Hz to 440V, 60Hz with a total demand of 1,200 Amps continuous during full load periods.

Furthermore, this had to be built, tested, and shipped to site in France within a four-week lead time to accommodate the vessel coming into dry dock for its required works.

Why Should I Hire?

By renting equipment and using our on-site services, you can drastically cut lead times and get the exact equipment and services you need, when you need it. Quality is high and costs are low. Plus, you have the opportunity to test new methods and solutions without any obligation to buy.

Why Hire from Quantum?

Matched to Your Requirements

In a temporary power conversion supply requirement, the goal is to provide a temporary solution matching your exact requirement in a time frame that suits your needs. Renting a Mains Power Converter System from Quantum means delivery in or out of normal hours anywhere in the UK.

Flexible Payments

Smaller flexible payments are easier to control and less of a strain on your finances. Because they are broken down over a longer period, it gives you the chance to pay back as you earn.

Rental Costs & VAT

Renting is tax deductible. VAT is charged on the smaller payments and not the large fee at the start of your payment, giving you more chance to earn before you pay.

Service & Maintenance Included

Our Mains Power Converter System options give you the freedom to know the service and maintenance upkeep of the equipment is our responsibility and at our cost.

Temporary power requirements can be met without the need to purchase. Hire the right kit at the right cost for the period of time required.
